Monarch

The brilliant monarch butterfly, or Danaus plexippus, is part of the Nymphalidae family and is native to North America. Completely dependent on the common milkweed to host its eggs and feed its young, this butterfly is most notable for its migration south in early Autumn, covering thousands of miles from Canada and Eastern North America to Florida and Mexico.
