Imperialis Emperor

Painted in soft purple tones with gentle yellow highlights, this watercolor print captures the amazing flow of color within the wing pattern of the Imperialis Emperor Butterfly. This magnificent creature is a member of the family Papilionidae and genus Teinopalpus. Commonly known as the Emperor of India, these rare butterflies are found in high elevations of Nepal and India and into Northern Vietnam. Pictured is the female species whose green iridescent scales are less visible than their brighter green counterparts.
