Illustrating the simple beauty of a Peach, this scientific botanical illustration depicts this edible plant native to Northeastern China. Cultivation has carried this delicious fruit-bearing plant to many areas with dry, temperate climates. Often considered a different fruit from the Nectarine, these fruits are the same species, differing only in a single genetic mutation causing the fuzz known to the peach, not to grow on its sister-plant the nectarine.
Painted in warm orange, yellow and pink tones, “Peach, Prunus Persica” is part of my collection WILD, a series of watercolor botanical illustrations inspired by Terry Tempest William's words "To be whole. To be complete. Wildness reminds us what it means to be human, what we are connected to rather than what we are separate from."
